You would have thought a quilt to make in six days was enough pressure to put myself under. However, on Tuesday I get a sms from Mat when I was at work to say that a package had arrived from Quilt Home. Yes I was excited, but damn, that is one of the perils of Mat working on nights, my packages always seem to arrive on those weeks, no matter when I order the fabric. Maybe it is a sign to stop buying fabric or maybe to get a PO Box?
Anway with the arrival of my new fabric, and with it being so so cute, and perfect for an O+S Sketchbook shirt. I thought it would be a perfect'extra' gift for baby Dylan
So on Wednesday when I had finished the quilt top and couldn't face quilting it. I thought I would whip this up.
The fabric is On the Rio Grande. Mat did not think much of it when it arrived, but it is PERFECT. Love love love it.
I seriously love making this shirt. It is so easy! I have made maybe 5 or 6 of these and they come together in a couple of hours. I love the details and that most of the seams are hidden. The pattern gives you the chance to add in some little hidden details. I love the inside of the shirt, which I fussy cut another trout from the same fabric, but in the opposite colourway.
I have also matched it with the underside of the collar if they decide on the 'preppy' look for Dylan.
I bascially don't give handmade presents as I always worry that they wont be well received, hopefully they like this one as much as I do.

You are certainly getting your money's worth with the pattern :) The shirt looks cute and the contrasting fabric is a nice touch.
This is so awesome. The print is the perfect scale and it's wonderfully playful.
It looks great. I love button up shirts on little boys. Especially made with fun fabric. Little boy clothes in the shops are so boring compared to hand-made.
Gorgeous - and snap! I actually bought this in four colourways to make one for each of my husband's fishing party. One down, three to go!
