Anyone For Badminton????

I dusted off the sewing machine!!! It has been gathering dust for over three months. On Tuesday night I suddenly got the urge to sew.  I didn't have anything traced or cut out, so I had to do that before I could sew.   Tuesday night I traced off and cut out the Oliver and S Badminton Dress and cut out the Oliver and S Swingset Tunic.

I have never made the Badminton Dress before. It is one of my patterns that I have bought with an idea in mind, and then in the time that it takes to arrive I am onto another idea and the pattern sits there unused.

The reason for making the dress was this fabric

I bought it some time ago and love it, but was not sure what dress it would suit.  I went through quite a few patterns which I didn't think were right and then I found the Badminton dress which I had basically forgotten about.

Oh My Goodness - how do I love this dress.  Firstly it is a size 3, but I have lengthened it to a size 4. My little girl, she is growing now, but has not filled out at all. I probably could have stuck with a size 2 and lengthened to a size 4.

I love the flutter sleeve detail. I have never made a sleeve like this before, but there is nothing to worry about as they are simple.

The only place that I have detoured from the pattern is the hem. It is supposed to be scalloped. I am not sure if I like the scallop detail. I did cut out the additional pieces, but when I was sewing the dress, I decided to leave it as a simple straight hem. I am glad I did.

Ella loves it and wanted to wear it to Nanny's today. I am glad that I got pictures of it the minute I cut all of the threads off it, as this suffered an untimely accident and was covered in pink medicine that Ella decided she did not like.

As Ella always like a picture, here are her modelling shots. Cheesy photos here we come.

We will finish off with a decent one - which doesn't make her look freaky.
